Rotana showcase six new hotels at WTM 2018

Marking their 12th consecutive year of successful participation at WTM 2018, Rotana showcased their wide-ranging collection of modern and sophisticated hotels.

At the leading global event for the travel industry, the hotel chain showcased their eight newly opened hotels in location such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE for this year. They also unveiled an incredible pipeline, that sees six new upcoming properties scheduled for opening by the end of 2019 in new and existing markets, such as:

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Iraq
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Tanzania
  • UAE

The hotel chain also highlighted figures that reflect a steady growth in the number of UK room nights at its properties in the UAE. In Abu Dhabi, UK room nights grew by 13% between 2017 and 2018. During this period, Rotana also increased their percentage share of UK visitor room nights, compared to the city from 21.4% to 29.4%.

In Dubai, UK room nights also grew at Rotana’s properties, as they witnessed a year-on-year increase of 4.6%.

UAE and Saudi Arabia Expansion Plans

To secure their pre-eminent position in the UAE’s hospitality market, Rotana opened four properties in 2018. The company also reached yet another milestone with the opening of a flagship property, Saadiyat Rotana Resort & Villas, in Abu Dhabi. A luxurious five-star hotel, featuring 327 rooms and suites, plus an additional 13 private beach villas.

In March, the Pearl Rotana Capital Centre added another 315 rooms to the company’s success in the capital of the UAE. Further strengthening its foothold in the thriving tourism and hospitality sector of Dubai, they continued their expansion with the opening of the architecturally-striking five-star hotel Al Bandar Rotana, and the hotel apartment complex Al Bandar Arjaan by Rotana. These establishments combined, adds a further 280 rooms under their belt.

With the addition of two hotels in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia continues to be Rotana’s key focus market for expansion, with a further two properties scheduled to open early 2019.

New Markets for Rotana

Rotana have plans to tap into new markets, this sees two new properties in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania) in addition to opening hotels in Iraq and the UAE, with aims to further deepen their presence in these markets.
